Update

I know everyone is wondering so here is a quick update.  Jacob's heart and lungs are still going, even after looking like he was done multiple times.  It has not been the peaceful, comfortable journey they tried to tell me it would be.  His suffering has shattered my soul and left my faith in tatters.  I will not share details because I hope someday to forget them.

He cries out when touched but he seems to like reading.  We have read Charlottes Web, Harry Potter, The Velveteen Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, and are now into the Chronicles of Narnia.  I don't know what book he is waiting on, but I'm running out of ideas!

We are currently trying keeping everyone out of his room, especially me, because his numbers go back up when he hears me.  So even though I'm telling him what to do in my sternest Mom voice, he isn't following instructions.  I know this will end and he will rest.  I don't know what will be left of me when he does.
